Teaching English as a Second Language - Minor
Students with a minor in TESL explore teaching English as a second language (ESL) to immigrants and refugees as a future career and can prepare to teach English as an international language overseas. In addition to four required language studies courses in the English department, students complete a semester-long (or equivalent) internship in TESL at an adult learning center in the Twin Cities or at another approved site. The minor takes a critical perspective on language and English language teaching and learning and embraces linguistic variation and diversity.
This minor is offered in the College for Women only.
