Student Rights and Responsibilities

St. Catherine University is a supportive, academic community, existing for the transmission of knowledge, pursuit of truth and the development of students. Free inquiry, free expression and responsibly free activity in concert with the teachings of the Catholic Church are indispensable to these goals. The freedom to teach and the freedom to learn are inseparable facets of academic freedom. The responsibility to secure and to respect general conditions conducive to the freedom to teach and to learn is shared by the university with all members of the academic community. The university is responsible for the development and implementation to exercise that freedom with responsibility, within the guidelines of the college policies. Although this statement is not intended as a contract, it attempts to outline the general rights and responsibilities of students as members of St. Catherine's academic community.
