Child Advocacy Studies - Certificate

The Child Advocacy Studies (CCAS) Certificate is designed for students who plan to work within a variety of agencies or systems (healthcare, child care, schools, criminal justice, social services) where they may encounter child maltreatment. The CCAS Certificate is multidisciplinary and will use a trauma informed, anti-racist, and multicultural lens to increase recognition of child maltreatment as well as the factors contributing to its occurrence.  The CCAS Certificate will also review historic and current responses to incidents of child abuse and neglect in the U.S. Simulated activities, such as forensic interviewing, testifying on a witness stand, and conducting home visits will provide experiential learning opportunities for students. Students will also start to build resilient strategies to guard against compassion fatigue and burnout.
