Social Sciences - Minor

This cross-disciplinary minor advances students' knowledge and skills in a broad area of study. The broad field of "Social Sciences" offers particular ways of posing questions, conducting research, and discovering how people shape and are shaped by the world.

Curriculum

The minor consists of five courses (20 credits). Courses must be selected from the following:

  • Communication Studies (COMM)
  • Economics (ECON)
  • Political Science (POSC)
  • Sociology (SOCI)
  • Psychology (PSYC)
  • Women's Studies (WOST) or social science courses cross-listed with WOST
  • Critical Studies of Race and Ethnicity (CRST) or social science courses cross-listed with CRST

In addition, courses must be selected from at least two fields, and at three must be upper-division (3000 or 4000 level).

In accordance with the policies that apply to all minors, no more than two courses may be transferred to this minor, and 12 credits must be unique to this minor (not counted towards another major or minor).

Upon completion of the course work, students must participate in an exit interview with the division chair or their designee.
