Post-Bachelor's Certificates
These job-oriented certificates provide skills-based training for BA/BS degree holders who want to advance their knowledge and skills without earning the MLIS degree or SLMS licensure. Students may take one or more certificates.
- Each certificate consists of 4 courses from the MLIS curriculum.
- Time to completion: up to 2 years.
- Admissions requirements are generally the same as for the MLIS degree.
- New students are required to take our asynchronous, self-paced new student orientation.
- Certificate students have faculty advisors.
- Course delivery: fully online (synchronous and asynchronous).
The Foundations of Library and Information Science Certificate consists of four courses that provide an understanding of the fundamental principles and practices that support the professionalism of all librarians and library workers.

Program: 4 courses, 12 credits
The second Graduate Certificate is the Custom Certificate. This certificate can be custom-designed with 4 courses selected from the MLIS curriculum to meet your needs in areas such as Academic Libraries, Archives, Digital Libraries, Public Libraries, Managing School Libraries, Teaching in School Libraries, Technology Integration, and other areas of your choosing.
