Specializations Policy - Graduate Students
The St. Catherine University Specializations Policy aims to enhance the academic experience for graduate students by providing a structured framework for pursuing specialized coursework outside their standard degree programs. This policy recognizes the importance of interdisciplinary learning and the diverse interests of our graduate student community.
Definition of Specialization:
A specialization is a deliberate set of courses totaling at least 12 graduate credits, designed to build skills and knowledge complementing a student's primary degree program.
Course Composition:
A specialization must consist of at least 12 graduate credits, with a minimum of nine credits from courses outside the student's standard degree program.
Approval Process:
School curriculum committees are responsible for approving all specializations.
Declaration Requirement:
Students must declare a specialization before being granted a degree from their primary program.
