Liberal Studies
St. Catherine University’s Liberal Studies program allows students who started college but never graduated to advance their personal, academic, and career goals by earning an interdisciplinary degree. This flexible degree option is elective driven, with students choosing online courses from multiple fields in order to build job skills and create a pathway for lifelong learning.
The Liberal Studies options provide students with a foundation of courses in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Sciences (SHAS) as well as the option to tailor their coursework in accordance with their interests, course availability, and advisor recommendations.
Liberal Studies students benefit from:
- A robust catalog of online courses, many offered asynchronously, to fit busy schedule.
- Intensive advising that helps students choose courses based on their interests, goals, and needs.
- An academic forgiveness policy that excludes failing grades received three or more years prior to admission.
- College credit for certain kinds of prior learning, including military training.
Liberal Studies students also have the option to earn a minor or certificate in addition to their degree. The Liberal Studies BA is open to students who have completed at least 30 credits at St. Catherine University or another regionally accredited higher education institution. The Liberal Studies AA is open to all students.
These majors are offered in the College for Adults.
